WORCESTER, MA – Tomorrow, Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02) will host the second of a series of meetings with his 2015 Congressional Youth Cabinet at the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife in Westborough.
The Congressman and his Congressional Youth Cabinet will be treated to a presentation about, and tour of, the new Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife net zero field office and then participate in a roundtable discussion on the effects of climate change and the possibilities presented by renewable energy sources.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This Saturday, June 13 at 12:30 p.m., House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02) will join local leaders to tour the Community Harvest Project (CHP) in Grafton and host a roundtable on The Farm to Health Center Initiative (FHCI) and its work to reduce hunger and enhance positive medical outcomes for low-income families in Central Massachusetts.
In 2013, I became the U.S. Representative for the newly reconfigured 2nd Congressional District, consisting of 63 cities and towns. Since then, I have had the opportunity to learn from many of you as I have visited communities across the district.
As we begin the 114th Congress, I want to share some of the highlights of my office’s work over the last year.
In August, I organized a three-day, district-wide farm tour that included 20 stops at local producers, co-op markets, and food distribution centers. I was happy that U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Edward Avalos, MA Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Maeve Vallely Bartlett, and MA Commissioner of Agriculture Greg Watson were able to accompany me on the tour.
