Dear Principal,
Each spring, a nation-wide high school art competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 and is a unique opportunity to showcase the artistic talents of high school students around the nation and within the 2nd Congressional District. Since its inception, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with this nationwide competition. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each Congressional District.
The Congressional Art Competition, sponsored by my office, is open to all high school students attending a high school located in the 2nd Congressional District of Massachusetts. The piece that is judged the overall winner of our District's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other competition winners nation-wide. Two roundtrip airline tickets are provided to the winner and a guest to attend the national reception in Washington, D.C. Category prize winners’ artwork may be requested to be displayed in my district offices for one year.
You can find more information, including the Art Competition Packet and the Student Release Form by going on my website mcgovern.house.gov/services/art-competition or by Clicking Here.
This is truly an extraordinary opportunity for students to display their artistic talent. I hope you will distribute among your art teachers and encourage your students to take part in the competition. If you have any questions, please contact Eladia Romero at 978-466-3552 or eladia.romero@mail.house.gov or Nic Guerra at 508-831-7356 or nicolas.guerra@mail.house.gov.
I look forward to the participation of your students and to seeing all of their great artwork.
Sincerely,
James P. McGovern
Member of Congress
