Dear [firstname]:
I am so grateful to serve you in the United States Congress. Recently, the House of Representatives held a two-week district work period, where I spent lots of time meeting with constituents and traveling across the district to hear from folks about what's on their minds. I also had the opportunity to highlight some of the wonderful things happening here in central and western Massachusetts. Here's a quick update:
I joined leaders from UMass Medical School and the Department of Veterans Affairs to announce that Worcester is getting a brand new community-based clinic for veterans. This project has been in the works for years, and I’m so proud of the partnership and collaboration we had at the local, state, and federal level to make this vision a reality. This new facility is going to revolutionize care for vets in Worcester County and I’m thankful to everyone who brought this idea to life, especially UMass Medical School Chancellor Michael Collins.
I helped to celebrate the opening of Jana’s Place in Worcester, a groundbreaking initiative to address the trauma from both commercial sexual exploitation and substance use disorder. I’m thankful to have worked alongside Nikki Bell and everyone who made this incredible project a reality.
I joined the Worcester Fire Department to honor firefighters — active duty and retired — who passed away in the last year. We can never repay the debt of gratitude we owe to each and every firefighter who puts their life on the line to keep our community safe. Thank you to everyone who attended this beautiful ceremony.
I stopped by the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival in Orange, and met with lots of local artists, entertainers, and farmers. It was wonderful to chat with folks from Franklin County and beyond to hear what's on their minds at this amazing family-friendly event.
Tomorrow, I'll be in Northampton for my 16th "Coffee with your Congressman" of the year -- if you're in the area, I would love for you to drop in and chat. You can RSVP by calling my office, or on Facebook by clicking here.
I'm grateful to serve you and represent one of the most beautiful districts in the country, especially at this time of year. I truly believe that our democracy works best when everyone's voice is heard. Click here to find out how we can keep in touch.
More Soon,
James P. McGovern
Member of Congress
