I've seen this movie before—I've watched administrations of both parties lie to Congress to drag us into an ill-defined conflict with no clear exit strategy. It's easy to get into a war and it's hard as hell to get out of one.
And when I talk to all of you, you tell me that you don't want another Iraq, you don't want more endless wars, and you don't want to risk thousands of lives on another costly quagmire. You tell me that you want your elected officials to fix our broken healthcare system, make housing more affordable, and bring down prices.
So rather than wasting trillions of dollars and losing thousands of lives on a war that the American people clearly oppose, I'm going to keep pushing this Republican Majority to spend its time and resources on fixing problems here at home.
In a country with a trillionaire, it's shameful that thousands of Americans go hungry, struggle to afford groceries, and worry about whether they'll ever be able to buy a home. Those are the problems on which Congress ought to spend its time and resources.
Despite this setback, I won't stop fighting.
Sincerely,
