[firstname],
On September 17, 1787, after months of deliberation, debate, and compromise, delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania signed the United States Constitution. The document they created -- and the amendments added to it over the past two centuries -- is a reminder to all of us that the task of perfecting our union is never finished.
On this day and throughout this week, we honor our Constitution by reaffirming that what makes America great is not that we are perfect, but that we can face our imperfections squarely and decide that we have the power to call our country to a higher standard and build a future that reflects our highest aspirations.
In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, Congress has established a United States Semiquincentennial Commission called America 250. This year, America 250 put together a fun, short quiz to challenge your knowledge of our Constitution.
You and your family can find the quiz and see how you match up with your fellow Americans by clicking here.
Sincerely,
James P. McGovern
Member of Congress
