With the delivery of the life-saving resources of the American Rescue Plan and the President’s new actions to crush the virus — including making all adults eligible for the vaccine by May 1 and taking further action to safely re-open schools, help is on the way.
The American Rescue Plan will save lives and livelihoods by:
Speeding up vaccinations so we can crush this virus as quickly as possible. The bill spends $20 billion to establish a National COVID-19 Vaccination Program and improve the administration and distribution of vaccines, including setting up community vaccination sites nationwide and improving our ability to promote, distribute, monitor, and track vaccinations.
Putting money in the pockets of millions of Americans in the form of direct payments – $1,400 for individuals making up to $75,000 per year, plus an additional $1,400 for each eligible dependent.
Expanding the Child Tax Credit that families with children can claim on their taxes this year – providing monthly checks of up to $300 for many eligible families with young children, and up to $250 for families with children over 5. This provision alone is forecast to cut child poverty by 45 percent.
Getting children safely back to school and making up for lost learning through a $130 billion investment in our education system.
Rebuilding our economy by providing crucial support for the hardest-hit small businesses – including $15 billion in flexible grants to help the smallest, most severely impacted businesses, $28 billion for a new grant program to support small restaurants, and a new community navigators program to increase awareness of and participation in COVID-19 relief programs for small business owners – especially underserved entrepreneurs without banking relationships, lawyers, accountants, and consultants.
