At the heart of the bill we passed, H.R.3, is a simple but powerful idea: drug companies shouldn’t be making sky-high profits while they charge exorbitant prices and rip off American patients.

Here's the bottom line: Americans should not have to pay more for the exact same medicines than what drug companies charge people in other countries.
H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, gives Medicare the power to negotiate directly with drug companies to fight for lower prices, and it makes those lower prices available to all Americans with private insurance. It creates a new, $2,000 out-of-pocket limit on prescription drug costs for folks on Medicare. And with the half-a-trillion dollars we save on prescription drug costs, we'll help reinvest in the search for new cures and treatments at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
I was proud to vote yes on this transformative, once-in-a-generation bill. The American people deserve a Congress that stands up for them, and House Democrats are delivering on our promise to fight For The People by lowering the price of prescription drugs.
