  September is Passport Month

Did you know that September is passport month? Every year, my office gets countless requests to help expedite passport applications. Routine processing can take 6-8 weeks, and even expedited service can still take 2-3 weeks. Think you don't need a new passport just yet? Some countries even require that your passport remain valid for up to six months beyond the dates of your trip!

If you need help with your passport application, please call my office or respond to this email and let me know how I can help. But here's a secret -- wait times are much faster when demand is low in the fall and winter months. Expediting a passport application with the Department of State can cost up to $60. Save yourself the hassle and extra fees, and apply in September during passport month. Some application locations here in Massachusetts are even extending their current hours to help you apply early.

Don't let an expired passport ruin your travel plans. And most importantly, please don't hesitate to reach out to my office for help with any federal agency.
