Internships are available in both my Washington, D.C. office and my district offices in Worcester, Northampton, and Leominster. Internships are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters for college students. Internship hours are flexible to accommodate students' course schedules. They generally run in the D.C. office from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session, and in district offices from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Interns' responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House of Representatives. In my district office, interns may be assigned to assist my staff as they help constituents resolve issues with government agencies. In my Washington office, they will be asked to conduct tours of the Capitol Building for groups visiting from Massachusetts.
To be considered for an internship in my office, your application must be received by the following dates:
Summer: March 31
Fall: July 31
Spring: November 30
