WASHINGTON –Today, Congressman James P. McGovern (D-MA) released this statement in response to the Trump Administration filing a brief agreeing with a district court ruling that the entire Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional:
“Yesterday, the Trump Administration doubled down on their efforts to take insurance coverage away from millions of Americans and roll back protections for those with pre-existing conditions like cancer, asthma, and diabetes.
“Today, Democrats are unveiling brand-new legislation to protect people with pre-existing conditions, reverse the Trump Administration’s health care sabotage, and lower health insurance premiums for families.
“The contrast in Washington has never been more clear. Democrats are doing what the American people elected us to do – stand up for them. Meanwhile, Republicans are putting profits before people and rolling back the health insurance protections that Americans want and deserve. We will not stop fighting until every person in this country has high-quality, universal coverage. Period.”
