On Friday, U.S. Rep Jim McGovern and Twenty-three other members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) issued a letter to President Barack Obama laying out their demands that any final budget deal generate significant revenue and avoid cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern announced today that Worcester-based Training Resources of America, Inc. has received a $1,300,161 grant from the Department of Labor. The grant, one of four distributed nationwide under the Young Parents Demonstration, is to provide intensive mentoring, educational, and occupational services for low-income young parents or expectant parents, ages 16 to 24. Last night the President outlined his strategy for Afghanistan - which included a drawdown of 10,000 troops by the end of this year and an additional 23,000 by the end of next year.
